    Issues:
    - Had to drill holes to mount the unit
    - Used the brass fittings from the JR FPR rather than the larger ones with the cartech

    Overview:
    - The cartech FMU is larger, and very strong looking. It's much like the JR FPR but it has a adjustable bleader valve to control the rise ratio. They also have a restricter in the vacuum hose if you want to install it so it reacts slower, or without, faster. I wanted the initial onset of fuel pressure increase to come on as soon as possible (eliminate the flat spot at 0 psi), so I don't use the restricter.

    Settings:
    - I have just BARELY played with it. I've set the baseline pressure with the stock regulator replacment, the B&M CommandFlo at 55. At 45 I had midrange detonation (I had it before at 60). I have the onset of rise at around 5 inhg, and goes to just to about 63 or so very quick. Under boost, it's hard to say how high, but I have the bleader valve all the way out, to allow as much blead as possible. This means the rise is a slow as it can be, and really with 60 as a base onset, 90 psi - 60 psi or 30 psi / 8 is 3.75 to 1 rise, and that is pretty low, for the cartech. If I lower the base fuel pressure to 45 with larger injectors, then I think I can raise the rise a bit. It was really designed to raise at a higher ratio, but then this is for cars with 35 psi baseline pressures.

    Results:
I have been able to nearly eliminate most of the tipin detonation, exept for low RPM high gear pulls. More testing will confirm this. With larger injectors I'm sure that I could lower the fuel pressure. Now with stock injectors, at least I can tune the detonation out. I think this is because the cartech reacts faster, and gets the fuel pressure up before there are problems, where the JR unit cannot as fast, or not as soon. Not totally sure what the final settings are yet, but looks good. The A/F meter shows rich under boost at WOT and doesn't appear to stay lean as long. I've got to double check this though.

    I'll keep everybody posted.

go to cartech.com for cartech/bell engineering products. i have the '008 model. it works pretty good. i will have to try to set my threshold lower & see if that helps with tip-in detonation. maybe i will be able to advance my base ignition

    Lundgren,
I went to the site and it seems that the FMU can(I forget which-20005 or the 20008) will raise the fuel pressure before boost...at a preset vac. Any reason you didn't get the 20008? Seems more adjustible...any new news on your progress?

I have the 20005 model. Yes it does allow you to start rising earlier, but it's not very sophisticated. The 20008 model is JUST the same, but flows better, if you run 20-32 psi, and need a HIGH rise, then get the 20008. Call cartech and discuss it.
